I create sculptural installations, which require the audience to pass around and through to experience them fully. In my sculptures I am interested in creating visual events. I have made sculptural installations from painted sheet steel, the viewer could walk around and through these installations. In these structures I have explored the effect that can be made by moving parallel verticals to create a play on perspective. The objects I create can appear to be quite large and monumental but I am also interested in the more subtle approaches to creating environments. I have introduced aspects of artificial light and colour into my work, developing the wall-mounted pieces, which I began to make a few years ago. I like to make work which has no fixed viewpoint but which develops and changes as the viewer moves around or past it, whether the sculpture is freestanding or wall-based, it creates frames into either an imaginary space or an actual physical space distorted by the perspective of the sculpture.
